For Asian Pacific Islander + Desi American (FKA AAPI) Heritage Month, I was commissioned by Snapchat to design a filter celebrating what being Asian American means to me. As an adopted Chinese American, I have always struggled with my identity. This project challenged me to think deeply about my personal experience as an Asian American.

”Being a part of the APIDA community is about having pride in the cultures and identities that make me me. As an adopted Chinese American, I have felt an insane amount of imposter syndrome for so long in the Asian community and the western/American community. It took years for me to develop a sense of pride and confidence in my identity. In this Snapchat Lens I blended the symbolism of unity in circles and water from Chinese culture with western, Italian Memphis style design. I hope you enjoy the blending of two worlds that inspire me daily.”
